Our slogan, as a practice

Human Again

We use AI to speed up, so we can slow down. Human Again is what we do with the time we get back.

The idea

AI is good at drafts, sorting, summaries and the boring middle of a task. Used well, it hands back hours. Used badly, it just makes room for more screens.

We teach the first way. Then we ask the next question. What are you going to do with that hour?

Solarpunk, as a practice

Solarpunk is a picture of a future where technology and nature get along, and people run things together. We like the picture. We care more about the habits.

  • Repair. Fix the thing before you replace it. That goes for tools, gear and workflows.
  • Grow. Food, plants, skills. Something that takes a season, not a second.
  • Share. Templates, tools, knowledge and space. That is why our tools are open source.
  • Keep tools small. Pick the simplest tool that works. Own your files. Know what you are running.

Slow living

Slow living is not a speed. It is a choice about where attention goes. We are not trying to squeeze more output out of every day. We want fewer tabs open, more meals with people, and work that ends when the work is done.

Left brain, right brain, both hands

People worry AI will make us dumber. It can, if we hand it everything and stop making things ourselves. So we keep making. Wood, soil, thread, paint, movement, music. Working with your hands and your head at the same time keeps both sharp.

That is why we are starting Human Again classes that have nothing to do with AI.

What we are building toward

Picture a shop on the bay where AI handles the invoices and the owner still knows every regular by name. Picture a kid who can use a chatbot for homework and also knows how to fix a bike chain. We want more rooms where people learn, make and eat together, here first and online for everyone else.
